Why Storage Switzerland is Now a Part of StorONE

Storage Switzerland started in 2007 with the primary purpose of educating IT professionals. Our focus was on the various technologies that would help them make their storage infrastructures easier to manage, more resilient against data loss, meet demands for high performance, and more cost-effective to purchase.

During the past fourteen years, we’ve worked with hundreds of vendors to help them to explain better how their technologies can help IT professionals solve the challenges they face. Each vendor that we covered helped improve some aspect of the infrastructure, but only a small handful truly stood out as game changing. StorONE is one of those vendors. I think their Enterprise Storage Platform can fundamentally change the way IT professionals design storage infrastructure.

StorONE elevates software-defined storage (SDS) to software-based Enterprise Storage Platform. As a platform, it supports any storage server hardware, any storage media, and any storage protocol. From this platform, IT professionals can solve all of their storage problems. It is appropriate for data centers of all sizes with a unique ability to start very small and scale very large. The Storage Switzerland team will join the StorONE marketing team to accelerate the communication of the Enterprise Storage Platform concept. George Crump, Storage Switzerland Founder and Lead Analyst will join StorONE as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

The reason Storage Switzerland is joining StorONE; however, is not just because of its technology, it is also because of StorONE’s team. I’ve known the CEO of StorONE, Gal Naor, from his early days as CEO at StorWize (eventually bought by IBM) and it has always been a pleasure working together. Every individual I’ve met at StorONE is highly intelligent, highly creative, and has high integrity. The two company cultures are so compatible that we expect a very seamless transition.

What’s to Come?

When you have a software solution as technically ahead of the competition as StorONE’s S1 Enterprise Storage Platform, it becomes the responsibility of the marketing team to explain those advantages to its potential customers and partners. StorONE makes a big claim; “The S1 Platform can solve all your storage challenges.” Our responsibility is to explain how real that clam is and how IT professionals and partners can leverage our platform for a variety of use cases. Over at storeone.com, you’ll see a regular cadence of content that covers new features, success stories, use cases, and feature deep dives that hope to accomplish that goal.

This site, storageswiss.com, will continue to operate, and you’ll see me pop in once a week or so to sound off on what’s going on in IT in general. If you are a consistent visitor to our site, we thank you for your loyalty and participation throughout the years. I also hope that you continue to check in to get our opinion on the latest news and happens within the storage industry.

George Crump is the Chief Marketing Officer of StorONE. Prior to StorONE, George spent almost 14 years as the founder and lead analyst at Storage Switzerland, which StorONE acquired in March of 2020. In his spare time, he continues to write blogs on Storage Switzerland to educate IT professionals on all aspects of data center storage. He is the primary contributor to Storage Switzerland and is a heavily sought-after public speaker. With over 30 years of experience designing storage solutions for data centers across the US, he has seen the birth of such technologies as RAID, NAS, SAN, Virtualization, Cloud, and Enterprise Flash. Prior to founding Storage Switzerland, he was CTO at one of the nation's largest storage integrators where he was in charge of technology testing, integration, and product selection.
