Over the past few years, the large storage vendors like EMC, HP and Oracle have been successful in creating their own well attended events. While these events are valuable, the storage industry and storage IT professionals still need a vendor neutral event. The industry is not just made up of the “big guys”, there are dozens of smaller storage companies that offer unique solutions to today’s storage challenges. These vendors need an event that allows them to show their wares. Most importantly, users need an event that can give them a broader perspective than the sometimes-myopic view of the single vendor events.
To that end, the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) has created a new event called the Data Storage Innovation (DSI) conference to fill the need for a stand-alone storage show. The inaugural event will be at the Santa Clara Hyatt Regency on April 22-24. At the event, vendors both large and small will be presenting their solutions and showing them in the exhibit hall. There will also be dozens of industry experts at the event speaking on various topics. In addition, the entire Storage Switzerland team will be on hand. That makes this a “must go to” event for IT planners and storage professionals so they can get the very latest information on how the storage industry is innovating to solve today’s storage challenges.
The agenda for the event features several discussion tracks that are sure to be of interest to attendees. Tracks include: cloud storage, storage architecture, solid state storage, software defined storage, storage plumbing, big data and storage performance. There is also a storage certification class the day before the event and there is a hands-on-lab that will allow you to get right to the nitty gritty of several storage solutions.
DSI is not just a vendor showcase, it is heavy on education, provides hands-on access to storage technology and provides plenty of time to meet with a variety of storage vendors. Again Storage Switzerland will be there too, meeting with users and vendors as well as doing our white board videos. So if you are there, keep an eye out for us.
