ChalkTalk Video: Making Backup Storage Work Harder

We’ve kicked off the 2015 season of our data protection workshops. This year we are providing details on real-world designs that upgrade your backups. At the “Backup 2.0 Workshop” we will break the age-old rules of data protection to meet the new RPO and RTO demands being placed on the process. One of the subjects that has captured a lot of attention is making the backup process work harder.

As we discuss in the below ChalkTalk video, modern backup software and hardware has the ability to allow servers to mount data directly from backup storage, eliminating the time required to transfer data back into position.

It is important to realize that once backup storage is used to host production data, what we look for in a backup appliance has to change. It needs to deliver better performance and higher availability, and as we point out in the workshop not all systems do. Upcoming cities include London and Washington.
