The theoretical quick fix has been to embrace server-side caching, which sounds simple enough; buy the SSD, install caching software, reboot and watch your virtual environment fly. Server-side caching, however, introduces its own set of problems. Three of the biggest issues are how those solutions deal with VM migrations, how they respond to an SSD failure, and how administrators can avoid “cache sprawl”.
