Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) vendors have gotten into a bad habit of claiming that once an organization implements the HCI solution, they no longer have to worry about backup. While there are components of HCI, (snapshots and replication), that do help in the data protection process saying that with HCI, backup is no longer needed is a bit of a stretch. HCI vendors are doing their customers a disservice by making these claims and putting their customer’s data at risk.
In this ChalkTalk Video, I map out the problems with this claim and how IT can adequately protect their HCI environments.
To learn more about the problems with HCI backup read our latest blog “Hyperconvergence is NOT Backup”. We also discuss the HCI problem on our webinar “10 Reasons Why Backup Breaks and How to Fix It“. Watch this on demand webinar to learn not only why HCI breaks but also learn about 9 other backup breakers and how to fix those too.
