FORT WORTH, Tx. – Experience and knowledge of the storage industry are hallmarks that have made Storage Switzerland one of the world’s leading storage analyst firms. The company is adding to its depth of experience and knowledge by adding Joseph Ortiz as a Senior Analyst.
“I’m very excited that Joseph is part of the team”, Storage Switzerland Founder and Lead Analyst George Crump said. “He will undoubtedly be an integral part of storageswiss.com.”
“I am really looking forward to working with George and his team on this exciting opportunity” Ortiz said. “I’ve worked with George at other companies and appreciate his professionalism, his ability to focus on what is really important and his drive to always provide a top quality service.”
Ortiz comes to Storage Switzerland from DSMCS, Inc., an independent consulting company in Stafford, Texas. He successfully helped clients by giving technical support on major data protection and security products, and projects for OEMs, VARs and individual businesses.
The Mechanical Engineering student from the University of Houston interrupted his studies to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War. Afterward, he spent seven years serving his community in law enforcement with the Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriff’s Department.
He became interested in IT in 1977 while working with the new Justice Information Management System that was installed at the Sheriff’s Department. Ortiz left law enforcement in 1980 to go into the IT profession full-time.
Prior to DSMCS, Ortiz worked for national OEMs and VARs, like Legato Systems and StorNet, as a regional SE. In addition to implementing and troubleshooting data protection solutions, he traveled around the country training users in how to better use those solutions. His background includes training, server hardware and storage systems, and backup, recovery and encryption software on various platforms.
Crump said those are perfect skill sets for his role as an analyst for Storage Switzerland. Ortiz will work with Crump to write articles and blogs and produce other content for Storage Switzerland’s website, storageswiss.com.
“Our mission is to educate IT professionals on the latest technologies in the storage industry so they can understand how to best apply them in their data centers” Crump said. “Joseph brings decades of hands-on, in the trenches experience to the firm. He excels at taking the latest storage and data protection technology and explaining how to best use it simply and concisely.”
