Flash Memory Summit Video – Using Software To Achieve Full Flash Potential

It is no longer “good enough” to have flash in the server. Where it is in the server is also of vital importance. Moving flash from the SAS interface to the PCI interface to the memory bus has significantly lowered flash latency but if the communications path is still routed through traditional protocols then flash still can’t reach its full potential. In addition most servers will have a combination of these different flash devices. What’s needed is software that provides a more native communications path to flash storage and can automatically manage the different flash types. In this ChalkTalk Video StorageSwiss and Plexistor discuss the importance of software in flash to achieve its full potential.
