Challenges with Traditional NAS Solutions

Traditional network-attached storage (NAS) arrays have long been a strong match for scalable, file-driven use cases such as enterprise file sync and share. In the world of unstructured data, however, problems emerge. Molly Presley, Global Product Marketing Director for Qumulo, joined George Crump, Storage Switzerland’s Founder and Lead Analyst, to discuss the requirements of this new unstructured data-driven world, and why a new architecture is required.

The traditional NAS approach of having one node in charge falls short when it comes to serving the vast counts of unstructured files that are today’s reality, creating a significant performance bottleneck. For additional discussion on this topic and to learn more about the hallmarks of a future-forward NAS architecture, watch Storage Switzerland’s on demand webinar with Qumulo, “NAS vs Object – Can NAS Make a Comeback?”.
