Unstructured data has exploded in terms of the how much of it companies are generating and storing. Also unstructured data has increased in value to the organization. Legacy file systems typically used to store unstructured data can’t meet this growth and they are cloud ignorant. Object storage is often hailed as the next generation unstructured data storage solution, but it does not provide sufficient levels of performance that IO intensive applications demand. It’s time for something new.
In this Lightboard Video, Ben Gitenstein, Vice President of Product Management for Qumulo, joined Storage Switzerland’s Founder and Lead Analyst, George Crump, to discuss how Qumulo has invested to create a cloud-native file system that scales well in terms of capacity and in terms of the file counts that it can support, that provides visibility into and control over those files, and that can exploit the full potential value of underlying, standards-based hardware.
