The storage industry lacks a multi-vendor conference that focuses more on educating IT professionals than on selling gear. Today, most IT conferences are sponsored by a single vendor (VMworld, Dell Technologies, HPE Discover, NetApp Insight and Hitachi Next) there is nothing wrong with these conferences and they allow other vendors to participate but those vendors can only participate if they are not competitors to the host. Also, the overwhelming majority of presentations are obviously focused on that vendor’s products. IT needs something more and an event that doesn’t require yet another trip to Las Vegas.
